Honorable Mention: 2020 Skillful Teacher Video Contest: Rebecca Wait and Michele DeMaino

In this video, students are comparing the questions they came up with around finding the area of triangles to their success criteria to determine if their question is ready to be given to a classmate or needs revisions. This video showcases the skill: Criteria for Success

In Ms. Wait ad Ms. DeMaino's words:

"Students have been working on generating their own questions around our priority standard topics taught so far this year. This lesson has them using success criteria to determine if their question needs revisions or is ready to be published. In the video, students are taking a closer look at their student-generated questions that could be used for future homework assignments or tests. More specifically, students are comparing the questions they came up with around finding the area of triangles to their success criteria to determine if their question is ready to be given to a classmate or needs revisions. We decided to look just at this one question because it is relevant to what we are working on right now with surface area. Our hope now is that students can take it one step further and look at their other questions using these criteria, too. The video shows students physically checking the boxes as they notice they have met a part of the criteria for success. You will also notice students realizing they have not yet met the expectation and will go back and make the necessary changes."
