This course has been updated to reflect the latest research and practices featured in the new, 7th edition of The Skillful Teacher. RBT Consultant Aminata Umoja will provide an overview of the updates that were made to align the course as well as answer any questions you might have.
Studying Skillful Teaching is Research for Better Teaching’s flagship 6-day course designed for teachers to build their capacity to improve their daily practice and their students’ achievement through lesson planning, high expectations, formative assessment, and cultural proficiency.
The revised Studying Skillful Teaching course includes:
A focus on how to communicate a mastery objective in student friendly language and how to check for student understanding
Expanded mastery objective activities such as new videos, prompts and assessments
Renewed emphasis on the moral obligation to teach all students that they are capable of achieving at high levels
A review of moves and strategies that convey high expectations as delivered in the book, High Expectations Teaching by Jon Saphier
Additional resources for Cultural Proficiency, including articles, videos, a glossary of terms and training tools referencing districts and schools that have successfully implemented these practices
The workshop will take place on the morning of Wednesday, January 31, 2018 in the RBT Conference Room, 1 Acton Place, Acton, MA 01720. The snow date, if necessary, will be on Wednesday, February 7, 2018.
